This production contains:
Discussion of Child Sexual Abuse: The entire play is a confrontation about a past abusive relationship.
Depiction of Power Dynamics: The play depicts psychological manipulation and the lasting impact of trauma.
Language: Strong language and explicit discussions of a sexual relationship with a minor.
Unseen Action: The past sexual acts are discussed, not depicted.
Staged Violence: Brief, intense moments of physical struggle and throwing of objects.
Content Advisory:
Blackbird does not depict sexual violence onstage, but the dialogue contains explicit descriptions of the past relationship between a woman and a middle-aged man fifteen years after he sexually abused her when she was twelve and its aftermath. The work is may be distressing for some audience members.
